Tech 1.0
Another thing to note is just how much help and assistance you can get from your tech and gadgets these days. I use an Apple Mac, an iPhone and an iPad mini, which coincidentally is what I am typing this out on now. All these devices are linked to the iCloud so I can sync these ideas to each device and not lose any. The iPad is my pencil and paper, where ideas, thoughts and doodles take place, it’s handy, not too big and not too intrusive in a social situation. The iPhone is my Swiss Army knife, I take it everywhere, I can snap photos, take notes and then sync them to the iMac where I can copy and paste them into other apps. I can take note of locations, and write directions such as whether a location is east or west facing. I can take colour notes or snaps of textures or elements I wish to remember. I can also take snaps of posters or books I might want to look up, make notes of websites that may be relevant. The iMac is the workhorse, this is where I turn those doodles and ideas into pictures, I create hi-res vector graphics and export to PDF or other print quality media
This is another aspect to consider, as mentioned there is so much good free software out there now, especially the bundled software, you need little else. I’m going to declare any extra software I use over and above Apple bundled software so you know what I’m dealing with and I don’t take shortcuts with fancy expensive apps. As stated I use notes a lot, especially on the iPad mini I can take these notes, add annotation, import photos and make a scrapbook of ideas, these are instantly synced to the iCloud so I can then open them up on the iMac, copy and paste any ideas I like the look of into other apps or just back them up in my inspiration folders. The Calendar app also comes in useful along with the Alarm Clock on my iPhone and iPad. These 2 apps are especially handy to me, a few years ago I suffered a lot from anxiety, I still do to an extent, but at the time it was at its worst I couldn’t even leave the house, but more of the later
