Spooky 1.2

So the first design out of the gate wasn’t bad, a bit bulky where I was looking for sleek and elegant, and there was some 3D print issues with bad underhands etc but on the right road. I gave some feedback and he put those suggestions into the design straightaway. I then decided so tweek a few variations and it took another couple of revisions to get those right. Then I asked to be split down the middle with a key to join the 2 parts together, this he did within a day and the design was complete

I wasn’t fully sure on the design but as I was about to go on a two week holiday I decided without a 3D print I couldn’t be 100% sure so I marked the job complete. This is one of my bugbears with Fiverr the designers put the job as complete after every revision and then you get a day or so to reply and either reject or request further revisions. This pressure before going on holiday made me agree to the design a little early, but I had good communications with the designer and he seemed keen for further work so I thought I’ll take it up after the holiday I’ll just have to pay a bit more. But this is something to bear in mind when requesting tasks through Fiverr. So my master mould was potentially ready after 5 revisions but without s test print to check a few things I wouldn’t yet know

With my design I’m hoping to achieve a few things, these can also be hard to explain to a designer so make sure you have a good brief, with drawings/sketches and some description to show them what you are after. A few of my design elements were simple to draw, others needed an explanation to get across. So the main design was to be almost leaning forward, this was to give it a sense of motion. It also had to have a small plinth or skirt around the bottom, to give it a sense of being lifted or floating. Other elements took a little more explaining like the flutes I wanted down the side and it had to have a tactile feel. Again something that can be hard to explain and of course for a 3D designer hard to implement in a 3D design application without themselves maybe printing a version to test, something was above the design spec and the price I was paying for the contract

So in summary, make a good detailed brief, with annotations and notes where needed. Moderate your expectations and always go for a higher revision count in the contract, even if it costs you a little more, to ensure you get what you are after
