I also hope to create passive income I’ve also added downloads to the product list. This is where you upload high resolution images that people can download, print and frame themselves. The advantages of this to the buyer is they get their image straightway, no waiting. This is of course better suited to clip art and stock images, but also applies to artworks etc. The advantage to the seller is there is no physical product, no stock, no packaging and postage, its purely a passive income once setup

This took a little bit of work to setup as you need the images in several sizes, I made these to suit several frames sizes, the most common ones in particular. There is no point in making them odd sizes as people will want to put them into readily available quick frames, or clip frames. I also uploaded a few different formats, as JPG can have noticeable artefacts due to the compression built into the format to make file sizes smaller I also created .PNG and .PDF versions. This is important as the customer will expect a quality download, they are already going to have to search for an online or local print store and won’t want any issues in getting a quality print to frame, and one that is easy to frame

The customer service required here is important as if there are comebacks that’s not passive, if you need to keep providing support and different formats for the people who download again its not passive, its time and therefore money. You do want a happy customer and one who will repeat buy, one this subject providing images, or products, that are part of a series, a pair, or even better a collectible series then repeat sales are a much higher possibility. So always have an eye on these sort of variations, or compatible products or accessories. Again in images a matching pair, triptych or colour compatible series is a good way to go, if you have had the idea to create one image then its more than likely you have the idea for another or can look for similar styles,  patterns or complimentary locations with which you can create another

Also to have a customer recommend and provide positive feedback is very good for any algorithm, ETSYs, Google or any other you may come into contact with. As ETSY is a storefront for people to sell one-offs, artwork sculpture and other creative crafts there is a big emphasis on the people behind these crafts too, the adage that people like to buy from people. So getting good reviews, good feedback and if you can provide an ‘above and beyond’ service then you will not only get repeat sales, but friends, family and ETSY recommended buyers will also come to your store, and of course keeping these new customers happy leads to yet more, its not only good business but its also exponentially scaleable if each customer returns and brings others with them
