Collaboration 1.2
So my friend and I have had another video update and shared some more ideas. He is currently ‘pivoting’ as they call it, he has about 3 or 4 project ideas on the go but suffers from plancrastination as we have named it, making lots and lots of plans, but never executing them, or running into small issues and then bringing the project to a complete standstill. He, as many of us do, also suffers from the ‘imposter syndrome’ where you think you’re not good enough to create art, or products and that someone else’s are always better and yours are not up to scratch This is something a few…

The upshot is I still have short term memory issues, some things stick, but there is a lot that doesn’t such as names, dates to state a few. I also find it hard to work out my calendar, to remember when I’m busy or have commitments and therefore not double book myself. I also don’t like it when I have more than 4 or 5 outstanding issues or appointments. Up to this amount I’m ok, sometimes even about 5 items, as long as I know what order they are in and have them ‘sorted’ in my head. If not then I get anxious and start to get edgy or sometimes…

Anxiety 1.0
I remember one day standing at my back door, looking out into a sunny garden with a cup of coffee in my hand, I wanted to go out and sit on the garden bench, but I couldn’t. No matter how I tried my body wouldn’t let me walk out of the door and sit in the garden. I don’t know why even now, I wasn’t scared, I wasn’t afraid of anyone or anything, I just couldn’t go outside. Now for me, someone who has travelled around the world, taken flight only trips to Australia and the Greek islands, been around Europe on the unlimited train travel ticket known as Inter-rail,…

So I was introduced to the local shop owner by a friend at work and this helped me enormously, not only in getting into a commercial shop and selling my pictures but all in my confidence. After you get a few sales under your belt you get a buzz from it, having people not only appreciate your work but also actually paying cash for it – its a real buzz and confidence builder. When the shop changed hands and the new owner wasn’t interested in selling local artists work I was disheartened and had nowhere to sell locally. Fortunately within a few months another shop had opened in the town…

Now going it alone is also scary, to most, there are some that don’t bat an eyelid and go head on into anything and I’m not one of them, and I guess if you are reading this then you aren’t either. I have yet to join any support groups, entrepreneur social groups or anything like that but currently I do have a friend in a similar situation, he’s currently un-employed or rather between contracts but has decided to give the entrepreneurial side of things a bash, whereas before he’s been contracting for other firms and in a similar vein to myself always working for someone else, and not for himself…

Spooky 1.2
So the first design out of the gate wasn’t bad, a bit bulky where I was looking for sleek and elegant, and there was some 3D print issues with bad underhands etc but on the right road. I gave some feedback and he put those suggestions into the design straightaway. I then decided so tweek a few variations and it took another couple of revisions to get those right. Then I asked to be split down the middle with a key to join the 2 parts together, this he did within a day and the design was complete I wasn’t fully sure on the design but as I was about…

PoD 1.2
So now I’m setting up Amazon Merch, I’ve created a few new designs in the correct size and saved them out as PNGs with transparent backgrounds. One thing I have noticed is that the interface to Merch is very simple and offers no editing facilities at all unlike Cafepress etc. The 4500px x 5400px is large and so is the area on the T-shirt so you often need to make small designs on a large template, this is where the transparency of PNG comes in handy. You can leave a lot of the area not needed as transparent and place the main design where you like in that area, so…

So I had a plan and a design I drew up, I had some complimentary products designed and was all keen to get into production, but one problem, I’m no 3D designer and it was proving difficult to put these plans into action without being able to create my ‘master mould’ from which I could cast my product. I need the master mould as from this I could create not only the main product, but also I could customise that to create others. I had the idea to now only create my product, which was going to be cast from recycled aluminium from several cast off computer heat sinks and…

Spooky 1.0
Ok so this now brings me to a ‘secret project’, something that will be revealed when I am ready to and I’ve got all the relevant parts in place. I don’t want to reveal just yet as I don’t want anyone to steal the idea and beat me to market, I also want to retain some secrecy until I’ve got any copyrights and trademarks in place and also the domain registered. I’m hoping this one will take off so I’ve got to, for now, preserve the idea This brings me to another important note. Copyright, Trademarks and IP (Intellectual Property), as you may be aware there are laws that can…

Tech 1.0
Another thing to note is just how much help and assistance you can get from your tech and gadgets these days. I use an Apple Mac, an iPhone and an iPad mini, which coincidentally is what I am typing this out on now. All these devices are linked to the iCloud so I can sync these ideas to each device and not lose any. The iPad is my pencil and paper, where ideas, thoughts and doodles take place, it’s handy, not too big and not too intrusive in a social situation. The iPhone is my Swiss Army knife, I take it everywhere, I can snap photos, take notes and then…
