Spooky 1.3
Ok so progress on this project has been mixed, partly due to my own constraints, both energy, or perhaps inspiration and the skills needed, and also due to external factors. This is a side-hustle so does have to give way to my full time job, family and other commitments. I have also decided to try a ‘pivot’ on the main project, as it requires a master mould I don’t yet have the skills to create and some tools and equipment I can’t yet afford, at least not within the scope of a side-hustle at the moment, with the cost of living and all bills and food etc going up in…

eCommerce 1.1
I also hope to create passive income I’ve also added downloads to the product list. This is where you upload high resolution images that people can download, print and frame themselves. The advantages of this to the buyer is they get their image straightway, no waiting. This is of course better suited to clip art and stock images, but also applies to artworks etc. The advantage to the seller is there is no physical product, no stock, no packaging and postage, its purely a passive income once setup This took a little bit of work to setup as you need the images in several sizes, I made these to suit several…

Collaboration 1.0
Now going it alone is also scary, to most, there are some that don’t bat an eyelid and go head on into anything and I’m not one of them, and I guess if you are reading this then you aren’t either. I have yet to join any support groups, entrepreneur social groups or anything like that but currently I do have a friend in a similar situation, he’s currently un-employed or rather between contracts but has decided to give the entrepreneurial side of things a bash, whereas before he’s been contracting for other firms and in a similar vein to myself always working for someone else, and not for himself…

Project Plan 2.0
This lesson was taught to me by my father, he was an antique dealer for many years, the successful ones last, and the others burn out quick. Many people have the idea of retiring and running either a country pub, I advise you don’t as it’s long hours and hard work. Or some would setup an antique shop, the plan they would follow was to go to the salerooms and just outbid the professional dealers. The reasoning behind this was if the pros can make a living buying at this price, I outbid them then put it in my shop. Although I don’t make as much profit buying at the…

Project Plan 1.9
So time for a project summary, we now have a total of 5 projects currently;

Project Plan 1.8
The next project (in danger of spreading too thin here but…) the next project is to make a lightbox. So this would be a papercut lightbox, I’ve seen some very good ones on Instagram, someone who goes by the name of dr.papperoni. These lightboxes are hand made and you can buy the paper cut kits from his website and the DIY videos and reels he puts out are a real inspiration. The ones he does are also very popular and cover a lot of well known themes like cult movies and games. I want to steer away from this though as I’m always wary of copyright and also there…

PoD 1.0
PoD is something I’d like to progress, the idea of passive income, something often bandied about on YouTube and similar as easy money that just rolls in without effort. We all know that’s not true of course and most people will tell you that once you actually get into the video further but it is possible to generate income passively if you initially put some work in. The idea being create once, and sell many! I’ve done some PoD work as previously mentioned and had some limited success. I plan to have another crack at it, this will be a 2 pronged attack. Firstly out and out PoD, create good…

Social Media 1.0
I’ve done some research and it looks like the main social media I need to be in is the ubiquitous Facebook as well as Instagram, Twitter and maybe Pinterest. These seem to be the most suitable and what most people recommend for the type of promotion I’m aiming for. What I need to decide next is do I promote myself, or through my personal social media accounts, which I have mostly yet to create or in some cases fill out the ‘forgot my password’ to reclaim a long abandoned account. Or do I create a business account and a brand to go with that, or in fact several brands. Now…

Project Plan 1.6
Looking at online POD first I need to look into alternatives to Cafepress and boost my images or redraw my images, in fact for a fresh start I will do that. So now to brainstorm any ideas. Cafepress seems to lean heavily to the US market and many of the items feature college football, army or military themes ‘support our boys’ etc. This doesn’t interest me and they say stick to what you know and your strengths so computer/geek themes spring to mind. Here I need to say a little about copyright and Intellectual Property or IP. It is very hard to think of an image, phrase or logo that…

Project Plan 1.5
So onto another stream, as I work in IT and particularly with Apple equipment I’ve noted that often we throw out computers, phones and tablets that are obsolete, but look like new. This often doesn’t apply to iPhones but certainly the Macs, open them up and with a quick clean out with the air duster and they’re like new inside. Being Macs they’re often very well made, the components are high quality and the cases often aluminium or brushed steel. They often have good quality screws and catches in too which seem a waste to throw away. There is an anecdote that Steve Jobs decreed early on that a Mac…
